Canada's beleaguered public broadcaster showed this week just how much it has riding on the back of one relatively obscure Regina-based filmmaker.Midday on Thursday, the normally staid CBC hosted a splashy publicity event in downtown Toronto to promote its new sitcom, Little Mosque on the Prairie, the brainchild of Zarqa Nawaz, a Canadian Muslim of Pakistani descent.
