Critics pan solar power research facility
A solar power research centre announced yesterday for the Portlands Energy Centre's waterfront site is a "fig leaf" for an unpopular project, the power plant's critics say.Yesterday, the PEC announced plans to create what it called Canada's largest solar energy research facility alongside the natural-gas-fired electrical generating plant it is building in the old port. The University of Toronto and a small Kitchener-based solar company are partners in the research project.
