Iranian execution halted after worldwide appeal

Toronto -- An Iranian teenager accused of killing a sexual predator has eluded the hangman's noose after a former Miss Canada, Nazanin Afshin-Jam, launched a worldwide appeal. This month, according to Ms. Afshin-Jam, the court in the new trial found inconsistencies in the testimony of the male witnesses and acknowledged that Nazanin Fatehi, a poor, uneducated ethnic Kurd, was indeed acting in self-defence.
