Top court denies cash for Little Sister's fight
The Supreme Court of Canada yesterday virtually shut off the oxygen to a funding lifeline for litigants who lack the resources to mount costly legal challenges.In a 7-2 ruling, the court refused to order advance legal costs for Little Sister's Book and Art Emporium, a Vancouver gay and lesbian bookstore, saying that its challenge to Canada Customs was narrow and would not have sufficient impact on the public interest.
