Two heli-skiers die in B.C. avalanche

VANCOUVER -- Two heli-skiers were killed yesterday when an avalanche thundered down on them in remote mountainous terrain 230 kilometres north of the British Columbia community of Smithers.Three other skiers, also struck by the avalanche, were rescued and airlifted to the health centre in Stewart, near the B.C.-Alaska border. There was no immediate word on their injuries, although they are not believed to be serious.
