No quick end in sight for B.C. forestry strike

VANCOUVER -- British Columbia's beleaguered coastal forest industry, already beset by a sky-high loonie and slumping U.S. housing demand, is now ringed by union picket lines.The orderly shutdown by striking members of the United Steelworkers union that began at midnight Friday was complete by Saturday, idling more than 30 forest companies and their 6,500 unionized loggers and sawmill workers.
