Natives ignore fishing ban

VANCOUVER -- Native fishermen defied a federal ban on the weekend, taking their boats to the lower Fraser River to protest against the continued recreational fishery.Ernie Crey, fisheries adviser for the Sto:lo bands in the Eastern Fraser Valley, said members of the Cheam, Chehalis and Musqueam bands fished the lower Fraser on Saturday night and yesterday.
