Couple win award for defending biodiversity

Percy and Louise Schmeiser may not be winners in the eyes of the Canadian court system, but they have become victors to countless others.The couple from Bruno, Sask., both 76, have gained international fame as the prairie farmers sued by U.S. agribusiness giant Monsanto Co. for violating its patent on genetically engineered canola seeds back in 1997.
