Jean Chrétien's tour in support of his memoirs, My Years as Prime Minister, was shaping up as one of the major events of the crucial fall publishing season, perhaps the major event. But yesterday's announcement that the 73-year-old former prime minister was undergoing emergency heart surgery has left booksellers and his publisher scratching their heads as to what lies ahead for the much-anticipated book.
