Are we born with a taste for Goats do Roam - or does thinking make it so?

Is there something morally degenerate about a champagne tasting? Our hostess at a recent Toronto drinkfest thought so. Even before we sat down to judge the merits of eight high-priced bubblies, eager to see if we had the skills to pick out the 1996 Dom Pérignon in a blind tasting, she announced that she had made a conscience-cleansing donation to the local food bank.
