China staggers under soaring grocery bills

BEIJING -- Zhao Honglei, a 49-year-old cleaning lady, can't afford to drink milk or eat meat any more. She and her pensioner husband have switched to soy drinks to save money, and she buys the cheapest vegetables from street vendors who are dumping their unsold produce at the end of the market day.
