Ontario seeks plan for full-day kindergarten
The Ontario government appointed a special adviser yesterday to develop a plan to implement full-day kindergarten, which would be phased in starting in 2010. Premier Dalton McGuinty asked Charles Pascal, a University of Toronto professor who has long been involved in the education sector, to make recommendations after spending a year studying the issue. Extending kindergarten, which is now offered half-time, was a key Liberal promise in the recent provincial election.
