Filmmaker Heather Harkins is the winner of the inaugural Helen Hill Animated Award. The Halifax-based Harkins created She's a Lady Animator, which traces the story of women animators during the Second World War. Hill, an animator and teacher who spent years in Halifax, was killed in a robbery in New Orleans last January.
