City tackles public safety in club district

The city and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario are setting up a joint committee to look for ways to increase public safety in Toronto's club district.The creation of the committee should not be seen as a prelude to clamping down on the clubs, but rather an attempt to support "a vital and important part of Toronto city life" by improving patron safety, commission spokesman Ab Campion said yesterday.
