Crushing defeat puts Musharraf regime in peril

LAHORE, PAKISTAN -- Washington's key ally in the war on terror, Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf, appeared finished last night, but he was not expected to go down without a fight.His supporters were routed in the country's parliamentary election, with the scale of the defeat becoming clear yesterday.
