Groups demand action against pollutants
For years, public-health organizations such as the Canadian Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation have been saying that the key to dodging deadly diseases is healthy living.But the groups, while still urging sensible steps such as tobacco avoidance, exercise and weight control, say there are some health threats individuals can't easily avoid on their own - such as air pollution and toxic compounds in consumer products - and they are calling on the federal government to take action.
