Europe's biofuel road paved with potholes
ROME -- Would someone please pay attention to Bob Watson. He thinks Europe's North American-style rush into biofuels could be seriously bad news for the planet.Mr. Watson is no shrill, placard-waving environmentalist. Born in Britain, he was the World Bank's chief scientist until last year and chief scientist of the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change from 1997 to 2002 (his renewal there was blocked by the Bush White House).
