Restoring a landmark, reviving a neighbourhood
VANCOUVER -- On a troubled block of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, where bars cover doors and windows and drugs are injected openly, members of the performing arts community gathered yesterday to hear plans to refurbish a boarded-up, century-old theatre - to the tune of $26-million.
