South African leader forced to speak up after long keeping quiet on Mugabe
JOHANNESBURG -- South African President Thabo Mbeki, lambasted from all sides for his approach to the political turmoil in Zimbabwe, was forced to cede his "quiet diplomacy" strategy yesterday, as his government took its strongest stand ever on the machinations of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and his ZANU-PF party.
