Vancouver -- Jeffrey Simpson, in identifying the personality conflict between the two Democratic contenders, may do less than justice to Adlai Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson, a Princeton graduate, was certainly, by any standards, an intellectual or, in the quaint usage of the times, an "egghead," but never, in today's terminology, an "elitist."
