Lebanese violence spreads beyond capital

BEIRUT -- Lebanon's pro-Western government was in deepening crisis yesterday as clashes between its overmatched loyalists and the Hezbollah-led opposition raged around the country. The fresh fighting imperilled an army-brokered attempt at a ceasefire.
