Free-trader McCain and the dark (supply) side

Some decades ago, U.S. Republicans stood for a sound dollar and a balanced budget. Then they succumbed to supply-side economics, and nothing has ever been the same. Under Ronald Reagan and now George W. Bush, Republican administrations never once balanced the budget. And if John McCain has his way, that budget won't be balanced, either.
