Fed seems paralyzed by effect of energy prices on big picture

Picture a deer in headlights. Now picture Ben Bernanke. Look familiar?Mr. Bernanke and his colleagues at the U.S. Federal Reserve Board followed their well-telegraphed script yesterday and held interest rates steady, shifting to the sidelines after eight months of aggressive cutting. But the tone of the Fed's statement accompanying the decision hardly oozed of confidence and bold decision making.
