Despite police crackdown, homicide rate is rising

VANCOUVER -- Police are cracking down on gunplay in Vancouver, but it isn't having an effect on the city's homicide rate.After a violent weekend involving two shootings - one fatal and both of which police believe are related to gang or criminal activity - and two stabbings, Constable Tim Fanning told reporters the police's ramped up attempts to decrease gun violence are working.
