Iran's gasoline imports prime target for sanctions

WASHINGTON -- For a quarter-century, the United States has used economic sanctions to squelch Iran's nuclear ambitions and choke off its support for terrorism.Apparently, without much effect.Now Washington is threatening more of the same - either unilaterally or through the United Nations. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, with the apparent backing of other major countries, has given Tehran two weeks to respond to demands that it stop enriching uranium or face new "punitive measures."
