Get Smart, back when it was good

The 1965-70 TV series Get Smart ended not with a bang but a whimper. The situation comedy jumped the shark when bumbling Agent 86 (Don Adams) married Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon), dissipating all sexual tension. A couple of terrible reunion movies followed (The Nude Bomb, anyone?), as did an awful 1995 series with Andy Dick as Smart's son. But the recent feature with Steve Carell restored some of the glow. Now, the first season of the original show is out on HBO Video, after long being available only online from a U.S. supplier, to remind everyone what the fuss was about.
