Windows Media Player won't recognize secondary drives

Globe and Mail Update

QUESTION:

Problem: I added a second hard drive to my computer (a Dell Dimension 8100 running Windows XP Home Edition), which XP has designated as "E." I have moved my music files from the master drive ("C") to this hard drive. When I double-click a music file on the "E" drive, Windows Media Player will not play it. Files on the "C" drive work fine as does the CD ROM drive. How can I get Media Player to recognize both the "C" and "E" drives?

Ken Cunningham

ANSWER:

If Windows recognizes the drive, then WMP should as well.

Are you getting any error message when you try to open a music file on E?

Have you tried opening the Media Player first, then browsing to E for the music?
