AURORA, Ont. Auto parts giant Magna International Inc. has named Mark Hogan, a veteran General Motors executive, as its new president.
Frank Stronach, Magna's chairman and interim president-CEO, retains for now the CEO title that his daughter Belinda Stronach gave up when she entered federal politics.
Magna said Friday that Mr. Hogan will work closely with the two executive vice-chairmen, Manfred Gingl and Siegfried Wolf, from offices in Detroit.
Mr. Hogan has been with General Motors for more than 30 years, most recently as group vice-president for advanced vehicle development.
“Mark will be an extremely valuable addition to our senior management team,” Frank Stronach said in a release, “where his broad experience in various areas at General Motors, the world's largest OEM (original equipment manufacturer), will assist us in our efforts to explore new markets and opportunities.”
Aurora-based Magna has about 77,000 employees in 215 factories and 48 product development and engineering centres in 22 countries.
