U.S. wavers, Canada rises

U.S. stocks wavered Wednesday as crude oil prices surged and earnings from Motorola Inc. and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. disappointed investors. Canadian stocks rose, however, led by gold miners as the price of bullion climbed to a six-month high as the U.S. dollar slumped against other currencies. The Canadian dollar topped 80 (U.S.) cents. Shares of beverage maker Cott Corp.
