Canadian dollar soars
Globe and Mail Update
The Canadian dollar rose briefly past 84 (U.S.) cents Wednesday after Finance Minister Ralph Goodale yesterday raised his economic forecast for the country. Indications from U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow that he won't back any agreement to halt the U.S. dollar's slide contributed the loonie's gains.
Mr. Goodale raised his year-end forecast to 3 per cent from his previous estimate of 2.7 per cent back in March.
