Clarkson apologizes, invites teen for tea
Ottawa — Two days after Jeremy Patfield was unceremoniously booted out of Rideau Hall for asking a less-than-delicate question about the spending habits of the Governor-General, the telephone rang at his home in Whitby, Ont.
It was Her Excellency, Adrienne Clarkson, calling to offer an apology and to invite the chastened 15-year-old and his parents to stop by for tea the next time they are in Ottawa.
