Windows Media Player won't work after upgrade to v. 10

Globe and Mail Update

QUESTION: I could use Windows Media Player 9 before, but after I updated to Media Player 10, I can't open the program. The operating system says wmplay.exe has a problem. What can I do?

Alice

ANSWER: It sounds like the upgrade might not have completed fully. First thing to try is uninstalling Media Player, restart your system then try installing it again.

Now to remove Media Player using the Add/Remove Software tool in Windows XP with service pack 2 installed, you will need to click "Show Updates" at the top of the window to see Media Player 10 under the Windows XP updates. Be sure to restart your system after you remove Media Player 10.
