$355-million was spent on sponsorship, auditors say

Montreal — Forensic auditing done for the Gomery inquiry has revealed the federal government spent $355 million on sponsorship-type activities over a 10-year period. A report by Auditor General Sheila Fraser that looked at contracts between 1997 and 2003 concluded that $250-million was spent on sponsorship.
