THE GREAT ESCAPE

Toronto — An Air France jet arriving from Paris overshot the runway on landing and burst into flames at Toronto's Pearson International Airport yesterday, but passengers and crew escaped with only minor injuries. The Airbus A-340 jumbo jet roared off the runway and landed in a gulley 200 metres away. All 309 passengers and crew escaped the crippled aircraft before it was consumed by flames.
