Personal bankruptcies rise
A tale of two regions is overshadowing the true state of rising bankruptcies in Canada, according to a report released Friday.
Personal bankruptcy rates in Alberta and Atlantic Canada are moving at breakneck speeds — in opposite directions, according to CIBC World Markets. Personal bankruptcies in Atlantic Canada for the 12 months ending June 2005 grew 12.1 per cent from a year previous. In Alberta, bankruptcies dropped at almost exactly the same rate.
