Roberts supports precedent, won't discuss Roe v. Wade

Washington — Judge John Roberts, nominated to become chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, said Tuesday that the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling is "settled as a precedent of the court" as he was pressed to address the abortion issue on the second day of his confirmation hearings.
