Hudson's Bay Co.'s decision to sell its credit card division was the last straw for Jerry Zucker, forcing the wealthy South Carolina businessman to launch his hostile $1.1-billion bid for the retailer.
The all-cash offer yesterday caught the company and the industry by surprise.
