Sugar-coated in Cadbury's as it is, Halloween is our Day of the Dead, the night of the year that we play out our ghoulish fascination with the beyond.
Tonight, so the fancy goes, skeletons rise and rattle about, and ghosts and goblins frolic, as the Earth releases her dead for a night on the town. (It's also when Ninja Turtles, Harry Potter, Spider-Man and Beauty and the Beast make their appearance, but that's just the power of cross-marketing.
