Liberals offer $1.5-billion for softwood lumber
Hours after the opposition parties served notice to the Liberals that they intended to force an election, Ottawa announced a comprehensive package to help out those in the softwood lumber industry.
National Revenue Minister John McCallum and Agriculture Minister Andy Mitchell made the announcement at a press conference in Timmins, Ont., on Thursday afternoon.
