‘Mother Nature was mad at the world'

In the fury of a late-summer tornado, a ballpoint pen was driven seven centimetres into a tree in southern Ontario.
The impromptu missile split the trunk of that tree. But in a year when Environment Canada noted that it seemed "Mother Nature was mad at the world," that particular storm didn't even top the list of 2005's most serious weather stories.
