Canada wins round one

Vancouver — The first sign that this would be different from other games in the world junior tournament came just before the opening face-off, when Canada's Steve Downie slashed the stick out of the hands of the United States' Chris Bourque — and didn't get a penalty. It was a prelude of things to come. It was feisty, it was hard-hitting, it was fun to watch.
