Sex-selection tests in India mean fewer girls, study says

An estimated half million female fetuses are aborted annually by parents in India who are desperate for more economically beneficial boys, according to new research.That translates into at least 10 million "missing girls" since ultrasounds and other sex-selection tests became available two decades ago -- a striking example of modern technology facilitating age-old prejudices.
