QUESTION: The computer boots up by itself every 3 days without user intervention after I put it into Hibernate Mode. If I Restart the computer, the-three day period starts from scratch but it still happens to the minute three days later. Is there software that can do this and can I prevent it? I am running the latest Windows updates and I have tried disconnecting the internet connection but no help. Everything else works OK.

ANSWER: Computers never wake up without a reason. There could be something scheduled to run that is causing it to wake up (check the scheduled tasks utility) or the modem and/or network card may be set to wake the computer on activity (the settings will be in the BIOS or in the device properties depending on the make and whether or not it is on the motherboard), make sure those setting are all turned off.
