Layton says NDP will stop Tories from steamrolling

Jack Layton cruised home Sunday poised to gain seats in Ontario and British Columbia after running a steady campaign that seems to have drawn some middle-of-the-road voters. Pollsters and seat projectors are calling for near-record results for New Democrats in the seismic shift that may trigger a Conservative victory Monday. Some even say Mr. Layton's NDP could approach the party's all-time high of 43 seats under Ed Broadbent in 1988.
