Dutchman de Jong wins gold in 10,000

Turin — Bob de Jong of the Netherlands bounced back from a miserable performance at the Salt Lake City Olympics to win a surprising gold Friday in the 10,000 metres, the final men's event of the Turin Games. Chad Hedrick of the United States, the world record holder, finished second to complete his set of Turin medals: one gold, one silver and one bronze. De Jong's teammate Carl Verheijen took the bronze.
