QUESTION: The remote procedure call service terminated unexpectedly and shuts down the system in 59 seconds. I have found articles on how to fix it however 59 seconds is not long enough for the start menu to come up. Is there some way to access the computer for a longer period of time — i tried safe mode but that didn't work?

ANSWER: To abort the shutdown command, click the Start button. Choose Run, and in the box type this: shutdown -a. Click OK to run the command.
