IMF should quit lending: Dodge

PRINCETON, N.J. — Bank of Canada Governor David Dodge says the International Monetary Fund should virtually abandon the lending business and focus instead on becoming a tough global financial markets cop.Mr. Dodge, delivering his second speech in two days on threats to the global economy, launched a blistering attack yesterday on the Washington-based institution. He called it meek, secretive and ineffective.
