Canada, U.S. reach softwood lumber deal
Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced Thursday that Ottawa has reached an agreement with the United States that will end the long-running and costly softwood lumber trade dispute.
Mr. Harper said the deal - which has been blasted by opposition politicians, Canadian lumber industry groups and business analysts - will finally stop years of conflict with Canada's largest trading partner.
