Furious provinces aim to sink softwood deal

WASHINGTON, OTTAWA and TORONTO — Business groups on both sides of the border and at least two provinces are threatening to scuttle the latest deal in the long Canada-U.S. softwood lumber fight. U.S. trade spokeswoman Neena Moorjani today confirmed that a deal was reached late Wednesday after days of intense negotiations in Washington. The deal seeks to end one of the costliest trade wars in history.
