G. L. Whitnack from Edmonton, Canada writes: We need to be careful not to sell ourselves short. We must demand, as stakeholders in this great country, that any CANADIAN resources be protected and managed with integrity. Whether we have federal involvement or not the people need to be assured that their stake is safe. We need a government with vision. All I saw in Harper's eye's was the glint of cha-ching as he peered into the diamonds in the ruff! I did not see an thought to the great burden mining brings to a community. Of course, we need to be competitive, but at what cost? As a proud Albertan I've witnessed the pillaging of the WEST. All across this great country we see growing international investment in oil/gas, mining, technologies. etc. Our government needs to step up and be certain that CANADIAN interests are managed wisely for future generations.
